Fox Showcase released the Australian drama series ‘Wentworth’ after the title ‘Wentworth: Redemption’ on 28th July 2020. The creation of Lara Radulovich and David Hannam is said to be a spinoff of the show ‘Prisoner ‘which was released in 1979. The show has also been renewed for its ninth season which is said to be the series finale which will release in 2021. The first episode of the series was aired on 1st May 2013 and has been received well by the audience.
The plot revolves around Bea Smith who was sent to prison on charges of attempt to murder her husband. She must learn ways to survive in prison after she is sent to Wentworth for pre-trial detention and is also separated from her daughter. There is not much information available regarding the new season. Season 7 showed Maria wanting to take revenge on Ruby after she found out that Ruby was involved with Danny’s death. Maria seduces Will to get access to the guard’s office, but her fellow inmates don’t trust her anymore. The final episode showed Maria trying to escape and trying to kill Ruby which turns out to be unsuccessful but gets shot by Allie instead.
Season 8 will probably pick up from the same point where Season 7 ended. But, “The Freak” is now revealed to be Joan Ferguson who will also be a part of this season. The first episode is out and has shown Marie being sent to protection. Ruby is contacted by Rita when she founds out that Attorney General who was protecting Marie was found dead. The episode is titled ‘Resurrection’ and also shows Reb Kean making plans to abduct Grace. A lot is going on and a lot is expected in the upcoming season. This season will surely end with a cliffhanger as the next season will be the last one. We will have to wait for further episodes to understand what will happen.

Robbie Magasiva will be reprising his role as the Governor, Will Jackson while Katrina Milosevic will be returning to her role as Sue Jenkins once again. Fox Showcase premiered the first episode of Wentworth Season 8 on 28th July 2020 and the audience has loved it. The season will also be available on Netflix by October, but we do not know the dates yet. Season 7 was aired on Netflix a day before the final episode and we are expecting the same this time.
