As promised, our coverage of IFA Berlin 2020, Europe’s largest consumer electronics show where all the major brands showcase their products and services for the public facing the next year. This post is about LG, who presented a brilliant keynote as they unveil their plans as a company for the next years.
LG’s motto “Life is Good” was central to the development of their 45-minute long conference, focusing on how the coronavirus pandemic reshaped consumer behavior and also pointing out how destructive and damaging the implications of the lockdown were for manufacturers, LG focused on three key values to develop their product line for the next years: Safety, Entertainment & Convenience. In IFA’s innovative format, LG’s staff showed how important it was for their company to innovate and create better alternatives for the public as they had to face the lockdown and the new normality by implementing innovative ideas.
Contactless interactions and robotics are trends that help minimize infections. LG invested a lot of resources in creating robots that serve in restaurants, hospitals and homes on their domestic operative system platform, LGCLOi Platform 2.0, an open-source, ROS2-compatible medium that allows for future collaborations and interactions between many devices, as LG plans to seamlessly integrate all of their devices to the Internet of Things while offering products and services that create in their users a sensation of safety. After the pandemic, LG consider that the application used for adaption into the new normality are here to stay, just like consumer behavior changing patterns.
LG Styler: Steam Your Clothes and Disinfect them
The LG styler steams your clothes and eliminates germs, for home and office use, LG’s True Steam Technology heats up water at 100 degrees Celsius to ensure the elimination of 99.99% of virus and bacteria from your garments.
LG Facemasks: PuriCare
The LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier is a facemask with a light, quiet fan that assists breathing with a sensor that detects inhalations and exhalations so it changes operation. LG distributed thousands of these units for medical use and they’re rolling them out to the public.
LG Fights Covid With Surveillance Equipment
The company also presented its line of home, corporate and industrial surveillance solutions as they implement face recognition software, thermal scanners and artificial intelligence into a system that allows the identification of symptoms in an effective, affordable way. LG plans to integrate notifications into IoT devices in contact tracing.

Apart from pointing out their offers for retailers and healthcare institutions, LG focused a good segment of their 45-minutes keynote at IFA to home, as they unveiled their strategy of creating an environment where all the appliances at home are connected by the Internet of Things and at the center of your smartphone to control them, giving you an experience unlike any other. LGThinQ is LG’s vision for the future of electronics as they combine Artificial Intelligence with the IoT technology to make way for much more innovation. From OLED TVs to interconnected ovens and refrigerators that identify the food you put inside of them, LG plans to develop a futuristic home and kitchen to improve our lives with technology.
