Through this article, we are going to talk about the unsettling variation in Mumbai’s temperature by 12 degrees recorded in day and night. This unsteady variation can result in the rise of flu cases. The state recorded a 12 degrees Celsius gap when the officials carefully observed the variation in different time spheres. However, while reading the weather of other Mumbai areas, the officials recorded a variation of 15 degrees Celsius. Directing towards the problem, doctors have predicted it could raise the flu conditions. As we all are amid the pandemic, flu cases might act like adding fuel to the fire. Fortunately, Covid cases in Mumbai have dropped down in the past two months. From the beginning of the pandemic, Mumbai has been at the forefront with the heist number of corona cases in its premises. Eventually, reports confirm that about 50% of Covid beds are empty and will likely to remain so if no Covid case intermingles.
The officials stated, “From mid-September, the cases have taken a leap. Roughly, the cases have come down to 1,000 and 4,000 in the last week of October.” While the Covid cases in some states are increasing and decreasing, a new seasonal flu problem is around the corner if not paid attention to it. The doctors are worried because the symptoms of swine flu or seasonal flu are similar, and patients, as well as doctors, will be confused about the problem. As a result, tension and confusion will be created in the general public and hospital staff. “People might start having fever and cough and will suspect it to be coronavirus,” said Dr. Gautam Bhansali.
However, a Santacruz weather observatory representing the suburbs recorded a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius on Monday. It was found that the recorded temperature is just 2 degrees higher than the normal temperature. While Mumbai’s minimum temperature was recorded as 23.4 degrees Celsius, it has gradually touched the rim of normal temperature. Kandivli was reported with the lowest temperature with 19 degrees Celsius, while Borivali recorded as 20 and 35 degrees Celsius, minimum and maximum, respectively.
Director-general of India Meteorological Department, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, releases a relieving statement while considering it as normal. “The increase and decrease of the temperature are due to the southwesterly winds. The variations in the temperature are expected in mid-October. Evidently, the rise and fall of the temperatures have not been a thing of concern.” If doctors are to be believed, they see these variations at an alarming rate. Adding further, doctors also believe that such variation in degrees can give entry to flu causing germs. Hence, one should remain cautious since time is sensitive than ever.
Dean of BYL Nair Hospital, Dr. Ramesh Bharmal, stated the same concern. He said, “Virus spreads rapidly and causes illness to a greater extent. Since the symptoms are similar, people will identify themselves as Covid patients while confusing general flu with Covid-19.” However, the temperature will differ and cause fever, cough, or cold to many people, as stated by the weather department and doctors. Be safe, and stay indoors.
