Demon Slayer Creates History: The Film Crossed $150 Million In Japan Box Office

The mega-hit animation “Demon Slayer” has single-handedly revived the sick Box-Office amidst the pandemic. It passed the $150 Million mark on the 17th day of its release. These revenue figures have been compiled by Co-Distributor Aniplex. The total number of admissions around this super-hit animation amount to 11.9 Million.

The overall figures detail the fantastic journey of this awesome animation film. The film has made $24 Million from October 31- November 1 weekend on 1 Million admissions. The cumulative gross revenue of the film is $151 Million.

The film’s initial journey showed promise and spark, which we can ratify after the Box-Office revival. It was released in 403 theaters on October 6 this year by Toho and Aniplex. The film has passed the $100 Million milestones in the initial ten days itself. This is a new speed record in terms of Box Office revenue for the local box office.

The film has also been handled by 38 Imax Theaters. They have also stated fantastic numbers in terms of revenue, speaking volumes of the animation’s financial success. The film earned $1.8 Million in the third weekend, indicating a drop of 11%. This is the fourth-highest ever weekend box office for Imax venues in the Japanese marketplace.

There are more records in store for the super-hit animation Demon Slayer. The film is only second to Bohemian Rhapsody in revenue collection. The latter film made $13.4M in cumulative collections in four months as against Demon Slayer, who made $8.9M in its collections up to now.

For its plot, you will find Kyōjurō Rengoku accompanied by Tanjiro Kamado and the gang from the Demon Slayer Corps accompany to research a strange series of disappearances happening inside an apparently infinitely-long train.

The box office hit film has also inspired a TV anime. This anime has run-in Japan from April to September 2019. Sony Music Entertainment wholly owns Aniplex, which is distributing this series on Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix.
