This news will give you a sigh of relief. Wilson Fisk, otherwise known as Kingpin, is going to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the MCU, reports Screenrant. Of course, I will not give an explanation about who Kingpin. You should know it before. In the end, we have all grown up relishing the fantastic Spiderman movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So there is no doubt that you will know about Vincent D’ Onofrio’s rendition of the ‘supervillain’ before. But our question is a little different. What can be some probable Kingpin choices apart from Fisk for the MCU?
We want to clear this fact, at the beginning, itself: It will be extremely hard to replace Fisk as the all-time supervillain Kingpin. It will be extremely difficult to adapt to the role of Kingpin for live-action. The Reason? The physical requirements needed for this role.
Fisk is no ordinary actor: he is ‘canonically a hulk of a man.’ His natural canonical structure is further enhanced by his sumo training and relentless body-building. The physical traits of Fisk are the organic result of acting for years like an epic crime lord. Most of Fisk’s roles show him at the height of his true menacing stature. This stature added with his experience sets him apart from his stand-by’s and all other villains available in the roster of the Spider-Man series.
We can never replace Fisk in the truest sense from his epic incarnation of Kingpin in the Spiderman series. All we are mentioning are some of the worthy options apart from him.
But before we begin, let’s recall when was the last we have seen Fisk in any movie. Wilson was last seen in Netflix’s Daredevil series just as he was being taken to police custody. Since then, Daredevil has been called off. The events in Netflix’s Daredevil have remained largely separate from the events shown in our all-time favorite MCU films.
Since it has been a few years since the end of Daredevil, we are sure whether Marvel Studios will identify D’Onofrio as their ideal choice for the big-screen version of Kingpin.
Finally, we present our choices for New York’s Biggest Mob Boss:
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson As Kingpin
This is the time we need to flip through pages of Marvel Comic Books. Only then can we help you know why we asserted our choice in favor of the actors named herein.
You might recall that Kingpin is a “humongous” human being. His physical measurements include 6’7″ height with more than 400lbs weight. Fisk matches these measurements perfectly. But as we are evaluating his alternatives, our first vote goes to Hafpor Julius Bjornsson. He is better known as Gregor Clegane in the Game of Thrones.
We haven’t chosen Bjornsson out of fluke. He can tower over his foes just like Fisk with 6’7″ height and 375lbs weight. In the end, his character in the Game of Thrones was called ‘The Mountain.’ So beware of him! This actor has a strong Icelandic accent. So he may require a slight rewrite about Kingpin’s background.
Mark Strong As Kingpin
Let’s clear out again: Mark cannot match the physiques of Björnsson. Then, why is he on our choice list? Because of his experience in playing villains on the big screen. He has recently made his debut in DC Extended Universe as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. Dr. Sivana is the villain in Shazam!
Mark has a bald head, which indeed resembles that of Wilson Fisk. He has no slouch at 6’2”.
Josh Brolin As Kingpin
Brolin has recently played the legendary role of Thanos, which came under elaborate makeup and CGI. So he is also a viable option for Kingpin.
