OPPO Find N5 Debuts as World’s Thinnest Foldable Phone with Premium Price and High-End Specs

OPPO has launched the Find N5, which is now recognized as the world’s thinnest book-style foldable phone at just 8.93mm when folded. This makes it notably slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Despite its compact form, the Find N5 offers powerful specifications, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, two 50MP cameras, and a massive 5,600mAh battery, making it a top-tier contender in the foldable smartphone market.

Price Point Higher Than Competitors

Unlike many foldable phones from Chinese manufacturers that typically offer more affordable pricing, the OPPO Find N5 comes at a premium price. In Singapore, the device is priced at SGD 2,499 (approximately $1,871), making it more expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The Find N5’s price is also $300 higher than the 512GB version of the Z Fold 6 in the United States. Although the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is almost six months old, this price difference indicates that Chinese brands are no longer focusing primarily on undercutting Samsung’s foldable devices.

Despite being marketed as a global launch, the Find N5 will not be available in key markets such as the USA and Canada. Instead, it will be launched in a select few Asian and European countries. Chinese brands often face challenges when entering non-Chinese markets, leading to higher pricing and making their products less competitive against Samsung, which benefits from a wider after-sales network, discounts, and trade-in offers that help maintain its competitive edge.

Exceptional Display and Build Quality

The Find N5 features a 6.62-inch OLED cover display and an 8.12-inch OLED inner foldable screen, both offering a 120Hz variable refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of over 2,000 nits. Additionally, the device boasts an IP69 rating, providing high-pressure water resistance. When unfolded, the phone measures just 4.2mm thick and weighs 229g, highlighting its sleek and ultra-thin design.

Under the hood, the Find N5 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. It runs on Android 15 and features an advanced camera setup, including a 50MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The phone also supports 4K video recording at 60fps for the rear cameras and 30fps for the selfie cameras. With its 5,600mAh battery, the device offers 50W wireless charging and 80W wired charging, making it one of the fastest-charging foldables available.
