Apple is preparing to introduce its most significant design overhaul in years with the upcoming releases of iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16. According to a Bloomberg report citing anonymous sources, these updates will bring major visual changes to iPhones, iPads, and Macs, making them the biggest interface updates in a long time.
The redesign will refresh icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons while simplifying navigation and controls. The new look is reportedly inspired by VisionOS, the operating system for Apple’s Vision Pro VR headset, which features circular icons and translucent panels for a more modern and fluid interface.

Apple Prioritizes Modern, Intuitive Design in Upcoming iOS 19, iPadOS 19, macOS 16
Apple’s software and UI teams have made this transformation a key focus, with the effort led by Alan Dye, the company’s Vice President of Human Interface Design. This shift represents a significant push to modernize Apple’s ecosystem while keeping it intuitive and visually appealing for users.
The company plans to present iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. This event will offer developers and users an early look at the redesigned interface before the updates roll out later in the year.
