As Valorant players eagerly anticipate the arrival of Episode 8 Act 1, Riot Games has finally revealed a brand new weapon to add to the game’s arsenal. The Outlaw, a double-barreled sniper rifle, marks the first new weapon to be introduced to Valorant since its 2020 release.
The Outlaw, as its name suggests, is designed to provide players with an unconventional sniping experience. Unlike other sniper rifles in the game, the Outlaw is a two-shot weapon that doesn’t break zoom when fired, allowing players to rapidly take aim and fire at their enemies without having to re-aim between shots. Additionally, the weapon’s reload times vary depending on how many shots are left, making it a unique addition to the game’s arsenal.
Riot Games, the developers behind Valorant, took a risk by introducing a new weapon to the game after years of live service and balancing. According to Coleman Palm, Valorant’s Game Product Management Senior Manager, the team hesitated to add new weapons to the game due to a desire to ensure each one has a strong reason to exist. In other words, they wanted to make sure that each new weapon would provide players with a specific set of situations and playstyles that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate with existing weapons.
After years of refining their approach, Riot Games recognized the need for a mid-price, lethal sniper rifle that could provide players with more options for the sniping playstyle. The Outlaw, with its unique characteristics and fast-paced gameplay, is designed to fill this gap.
The Outlaw will be available as part of a free update, but its weapon skins will require players to spend real money. To commemorate its release, a special bundle called the Throwback Pack: Outlaw will be available in Valorant’s store for 2,320 VP. This bundle includes the Prism//Reloaded and Ego Outlaw skins, each with three variants, as well as an Outlaw-themed player card, gun buddy, spray, and title.
The arrival of the Outlaw in Valorant marks an exciting new chapter in the game’s ongoing evolution. With its unique characteristics and gameplay, the Outlaw is poised to shake up the sniping playstyle and provide players with new ways to approach the game. Fans of Valorant can look forward to getting their hands on the Outlaw when Episode 8 Act 1 begins on January 9.
In terms of availability, the Outlaw will be added to the game’s pre-round item shop, where it will cost 2,400 credits in a match. This puts it between the price tags of other sniper rifles currently in the game. With its fast-paced gameplay and unique characteristics, the Outlaw is sure to be a hit with sniper fans, and players can expect to see it dominate the battlefield in the weeks and months to come.
