Microsoft Surface Laptops and Tablets Get Significant Upgrades in 2024

In a year marked by disappointment and concern with the Surface line of laptops in 2023, Microsoft is set to make a comeback with a slew of new and upgraded products in 2024. According to reports from trusted sources, the company is preparing to reveal a potential lineup of Surface products in the first half of the year, with the first devices expected to ship in April and June.

The first wave of updates is expected to include refreshed versions of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, with the Surface Pro 9+ and Surface Laptop 5+ models rumored to be in the works. These devices are expected to run on Windows 11 Moment 5 and will feature 14th-generation Intel chips, as well as an antireflective display, a new NFC reader, and support for Windows Studio Effects. The Surface Pro 9+ is expected to be announced on March 21, with availability in April, while the Surface Laptop 5+ may be revealed alongside it.

More excitingly, Microsoft is also expected to reveal theSurface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 in June, with features aimed at preparing the devices to host the next version of Windows. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip, which includes a next-gen neural processing unit (NPU), is expected to power AI features for the PCs and support future OS updates, including Windows Germanium, which is the code name for Windows 12. The Surface Pro 10 is expected to feature an HDR display with 2160 x 1440 or 2880 x 1920 resolution options, antiglare coating, rounded corners, and an updated Type Cover with a dedicated Windows Copilot button.
