DIY Perks’ ‘Invisible’ PC: A Seamless Blend of High-Performance Technology and Home Decor

DIY Perks' 'Invisible' PC

The article highlights the innovative project of DIY Perks, a popular YouTube channel known for its creative and complex DIY builds. In this project, Matthew Perks, the creator of DIY Perks, has designed an “invisible” PC build that seamlessly integrates high-end PC components with a hidden hatch built into a custom desk. The result is a high-performance PC that is barely noticeable at first glance, making it a perfect example of how technology can be blended into home decor.

The project begins with the conceptualization of a motorized standing desk designed to conceal an entire high-performance gaming PC and its peripherals within a custom tabletop. The desk is made from aluminum sheets, supported by an extruded aluminum frame, and features a 45-inch OLED display embedded within the desk. The monitor mounting process is intricate, requiring custom components and techniques to integrate the display smoothly.

The PC components are integrated into the desk, including an Intel Core i9-13900K processor, ASRock Z790 PG-ITX/TB4 motherboard, Zotac GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, and 12 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 drives. The cooling system features custom water blocks for the CPU and GPU, initially, but later upgraded to include larger heatsinks and Corsair fans for better performance.

The final steps focus on aesthetics and usability, involving the addition of external wood panels to the desk for a polished look, and a spring-loaded insert to cover any gaps seamlessly. A magnetic mechanism is also added to facilitate easy access to the monitor hatch while maintaining the desk’s sleek surface.

The invisible PC build by DIY Perks is an impressive demonstration of engineering and design, showcasing how high-performance technology can be seamlessly integrated into everyday furniture. This project not only displays advanced DIY skills but also offers a Look into the future of home computing, where functionality and aesthetics coexist harmoniously.
