The highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC, “Shadow of the Erdtree,” was released on June 21 to widespread acclaim. This expansion introduces a vast new area, comparable in size to Limgrave, and features 11 formidable new bosses. Players are also treated to over 100 new weapons, expanding their arsenal for both the new content and the base game. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s creator, has noted the impressive scope of the new area.

FromSoftware has delivered a diverse array of new weapons in “Shadow of the Erdtree.” These weapons range from practical choices like the Milady Light Greatsword to more whimsical options like the Smithscript Hammer. Each weapon is balanced well against the existing arsenal, ensuring that long-time favorite builds remain viable, although the PVP meta is likely to favor the new additions for a while.

Among the new weapons, a few have quickly become community favorites. One standout is the Backhand Blade, a sword that excels in both single and dual-wielding configurations. Its unique Blind Spot skill allows players to maneuver around foes and unleash devastating combos, making it particularly effective in PVE scenarios. Players can find the Backhand Blade near the Smoldering Ruins in the DLC area.

Another notable weapon is Rellana’s Twin Blades, which offers a unique mechanic: it transforms from a light greatsword dealing magic damage to dual-wielded straight swords dealing fire damage when two-handed. The Moon-and-Fire Stance skill further enhances its versatility. To obtain these blades, players must defeat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, and exchange her Remembrance at the Roundtable Hold.

Milady, a light greatsword, stands out for its ease of use and excellent reach. It may not have the flashy mechanics of other DLC weapons, but its versatility makes it a reliable choice. Players can find Milady at Castle Ensis, where it is guarded by several enemies.

The Lightning Perfume Bottle is another powerful addition, particularly against groups of enemies. Its area-of-effect damage is complemented by the Rolling Sparks Ash of War, making it effective against larger foes. This weapon can be found near a pond filled with lightning sheep at the Cerulean Coast.

For those looking for a fun, meme-worthy weapon, the Smithscript Hammer fits the bill. This great hammer can be thrown at enemies and instantly recalled, adding a playful yet powerful element to combat. The hammer can be found at Taylew’s Ruined Forge in the Rauh Base region.

The Putrescence Cleaver, a greataxe, combines a striking design with powerful frost build-up capabilities. Its Spinning Guillotine skill allows for continuous spinning attacks, inflicting frostbite quickly. Players can acquire this weapon by defeating the Putrescent Knight at The Fissure.

Lastly, Leda’s Sword offers a unique utility in PVP scenarios. Its Needle Piercer skill removes buffs from enemies, making it a strategic choice for disrupting opponents. This weapon is obtained by defeating Needle Knight Leda in the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom of the DLC’s main storyline.

“Shadow of the Erdtree” not only expands Elden Ring’s world with challenging new content but also enhances the gameplay experience with a rich variety of new weapons. Each weapon brings something unique to the table, ensuring that players have plenty of options to suit their playstyle as they explore the new area and face its formidable bosses.
