Threads Tests 24-Hour Timer for Ephemeral Posts, Enhancing Content Flexibility

Threads is experimenting with a new feature that allows users to set a 24-hour timer on their posts. After this period, the post and all associated replies will automatically disappear, similar to Instagram Stories. This feature, which was first noticed by developer Alessandro Paluzzi earlier this summer, is now being tested with a select group of users. The ephemeral nature of these posts could be particularly appealing to those who frequently delete their content.

This testing comes after Instagram head Adam Mosseri mentioned that Threads was also considering an auto-archiving feature. This optional feature would let users specify a date for their posts to be removed from their feed. However, Threads users have not shown strong interest in automatic archiving, and it has not yet been rolled out widely.

Threads recently surpassed 200 million users and introduced a new tool called Insights. This analytics feature is aimed at helping users, especially those with larger followings, track their account’s performance. Additionally, Meta has announced that the ability to schedule posts will be introduced soon, offering users more control over their content.

These developments reflect Threads’ ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and engagement by providing features that cater to different content management preferences. The new ephemeral post feature and upcoming post scheduling options indicate a focus on flexibility and improved functionality for users.
