Microsoft Flight Simulator is celebrated as one of the top flight simulators ever made, distinguished by its realistic aircraft licenses and detailed city maps. The 2020 reboot was initially believed to be the final major update. However, Microsoft has now announced a new version, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, set to introduce extensive updates and fresh content.
The upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will feature an innovative “Career in Aviation” mode. This new career path offers players various specializations, such as mountain rescue, air racing, and cargo transport, each with unique challenges and opportunities. These roles aim to provide more structured goals and diverse experiences within the game.
New aircraft types, including gliders, airships, and hot air balloons, will also be part of the new release. Players will now have the ability to interact with the environment more directly, including walking around their aircraft, guiding passengers, and even parachuting from the plane. These additions promise to enhance the immersive experience of the game.
Visually and technically, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will include improvements like more realistic vegetation, advanced weather effects (including tornadoes and auroras), and seasonal changes. The game’s engine will be upgraded to offer faster loading times and lower system requirements, leveraging cloud streaming for enhanced performance.
Scheduled for release on November 19, 2024, for PC and Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be priced between $59.99 and $69.99. Xbox One users will not be able to play it directly but can access it via Xbox Cloud Gaming. Existing players of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will retain their content, as the new game will support most previous aircraft and add-ons, with certain upgrades available for free.
