Microsoft is set to launch Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on its Xbox Cloud Gaming platform on October 25. This release is significant as it marks the first time the Call of Duty franchise will be available for streaming on this service. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can access the game starting at 10 AM PT on its release day.

Additionally, Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone will also be available on the same date, providing players with a broader selection of popular titles.

The inclusion of Call of Duty games in Xbox Cloud Gaming represents a major advancement for the platform, allowing players to engage with the franchise on various devices, including consoles, PCs, mobile devices, Samsung TVs, Amazon Fire TVs, and Meta Quest devices.

Ashley McKissick, Xbox’s VP of Gaming Experiences & Platforms, emphasized that this move gives Game Pass Ultimate members unprecedented access to Call of Duty games right from their launch day, enhancing the overall gaming experience and accessibility for a wide range of players.

In a notable development regarding streaming rights, Ubisoft now holds the rights to stream Activision games following Microsoft’s acquisition of the company in 2023. However, Ubisoft appears to have licensed these streaming rights back to Microsoft, enabling Call of Duty games to be streamed on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

This licensing arrangement may extend to other cloud platforms in the future, further broadening access to Activision’s titles and enhancing the gaming options available to players.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 features an engaging campaign set in the early 1990s and introduces innovative gameplay mechanics such as omnimovement, allowing players to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction.

Another new feature, Supine Prone, enables players to rotate while lying prone, increasing tactical flexibility during gameplay. The game will present diverse maps across regions like the Middle East, southern Europe, Russia, and the United States, offering players a rich and varied gaming environment.

Alongside Black Ops 6, players will also have access to Modern Warfare III, which was released in 2022 and made available on Game Pass in July. Despite receiving lower ratings in the franchise, this installment continues the narrative of a special operations unit pursuing a Russian war criminal. Players can enjoy a single-player campaign, multiplayer modes, and an open-world Zombies experience.

Call of Duty: Warzone, a free-to-play battle royale title, will also be included, allowing gamers to parachute onto shrinking maps in various locations like Urzikstan, Rebirth Island, and Fortune’s Keep, enhancing the overall appeal of the franchise.
