Dr. Ilaria Caiazzo, the lead researcher, suggests that the star might have caught in the act of transitioning from being hydrogen-dominated to helium-dominated on its surface. However, the underlying reason for this evolution remains unclear, and the researchers propose that it could be related to the star’s magnetic fields.

Magnetic fields surrounding celestial bodies tend to be asymmetrical or stronger on one side, which could prevent the mixing of materials. This could result in the side with a stronger magnetic field having less mixing and more hydrogen. This theory is yet to be confirmed, but it could provide crucial insight into the formation of Janus.
