OnePlus Watch 3 Launches with Longer Battery Life but Lacks ECG Support in US and Canada

OnePlus has made the OnePlus Watch 3 official, building on the success of its predecessors, the OnePlus Watch 2 and OnePlus Watch 2R. The latest smartwatch comes with an improved battery that can last up to five days with regular use and up to three days under heavy usage.

This enhancement aims to provide users with longer-lasting performance without frequent recharging. Despite its improvements, the launch was relatively quiet, with minimal promotional effort from the company.

ECG Feature Not Available in the US and Canada

One of the standout features of the OnePlus Watch 3 is its ability to perform electrocardiogram (ECG) readings. However, users in the US and Canada will not have access to this function. OnePlus did not receive the necessary FDA certification for ECG capabilities in these regions, which means the feature will be disabled for those markets. This limitation may be a disappointment for users who were hoping to use the watch for advanced heart health monitoring.

While ECG functionality is unavailable in the US and Canada, OnePlus is introducing a modified version of its new 60-Second Health Check-In feature. This version will still offer general health tracking but will exclude ECG readings. The feature is expected to be rolled out between April and June 2025. Although it is not a complete substitute for ECG monitoring, it still provides some level of health tracking for users in these regions.

OnePlus Acknowledges the Limitation

OnePlus has been transparent about the ECG restriction, issuing an official statement to 9to5Google. By addressing the limitation on the first day of pre-orders, the company ensures that customers are aware of what they are getting before making a purchase. While missing out on ECG functionality might be disappointing, the company’s honesty allows buyers to make an informed decision about whether the watch meets their needs.

The OnePlus Watch 3 is currently available for pre-order at a price of $329 in the US, €349 in Europe, and £319 in the UK. Shipping will begin on February 25 in select countries, with other regions receiving the smartwatch in early March. Additionally, some local OnePlus websites may offer discounts for customers who pre-order, making it a potentially better deal for early buyers.
