Nvidia’s RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition has generated significant interest due to its impressive specifications, such as 575 watts of graphics power, 21,760 CUDA cores, and 32GB of GDDR7 memory. Despite some skepticism regarding Nvidia’s performance claims, such as the assertion that a $549 RTX 5070 could match the performance of a $1599 RTX 4090, the 5090 stands out for its engineering. Remarkably, Nvidia has packed all these high-performance components into a two-slot design, which is a feat in itself.
During CES in Las Vegas, my colleague Antonio G. Di Benedetto went on a search to find the RTX 5090 in action. Initially, there were no interactive game demos featuring the 5090 on the show floor, leading to a fruitless hunt. However, after some persistence, we finally spotted the actual card at Nvidia’s offsite event. This moment confirmed that the much-anticipated graphics card was real, despite initial difficulties in finding it.
The RTX 5090, priced at $2,000, is a highly desirable and potentially rare card. Its heavy build and relatively compact design, especially considering its immense power, make it a striking example of modern GPU engineering. Although it’s clear that Nvidia’s Founder’s Edition may be difficult to obtain, the card has generated excitement due to its combination of size, performance, and cutting-edge technology.
For comparison, we were able to capture images of the RTX 5090 alongside the RTX 5080 and 5070 Founder’s Editions. These images highlight just how compact Nvidia’s 5090 is, especially when compared to the bulky designs of many other partner cards. Despite its high power, the 5090 manages to maintain a compact footprint, which makes it an impressive technical achievement in gaming and professional graphics.
