Ubisoft is gearing up to breathe new life into its classic Assassin’s Creed titles with modern reimaginings tailored for today’s advanced gaming platforms. Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO, recently disclosed in an interview on the company’s website that they are actively working on remakes of older Assassin’s Creed games.

These remakes promise enhanced graphics and other improvements optimized for newer consoles and high-performance PCs. Guillemot emphasized that revisiting these older worlds allows Ubisoft to modernize and fully explore the rich narratives and environments that these games originally introduced.

In addition to the remakes, Guillemot outlined Ubisoft’s strategy to ensure Assassin’s Creed games are released more regularly, while ensuring each installment offers a unique experience.

He highlighted two upcoming titles as examples: Assassin’s Creed Hexe, set during the witch trials in the Holy Roman Empire, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which delves into Japan’s Sengoku era featuring historical figures like Oda Nobunaga. These games are designed to provide distinct gameplay experiences, showcasing the franchise’s versatility and historical depth.

Although Yves Guillemot didn’t say which games will be remade, earlier reports suggest Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is one of them. It first came out in 2013 and is loved for its pirate-themed story. Ubisoft is also getting ready to launch the “Animus hub,” a central place where players can access different Assassin’s Creed games. This hub, previously called Infinity, might also let players buy new games and updates for the series.

The introduction of these remakes and the Animus hub signifies Ubisoft’s commitment to revitalizing its flagship franchise while embracing new technological capabilities and player expectations.

By revisiting iconic games and expanding accessibility through a dedicated platform, Ubisoft aims to both preserve the legacy of Assassin’s Creed and pave the way for its future iterations. Fans can anticipate these developments to further enrich their gaming experiences and deepen their immersion into the intricate worlds of Assassin’s Creed.
