Capcom Announces Resident Evil 9 and Remastered Classics, Setting High Expectations for Fans

After a long wait since the release of Resident Evil: Village, Capcom has finally announced the development of Resident Evil 9, setting high expectations for the next installment in the franchise. The last game, Resident Evil: Village, established a high standard for future games, making the announcement of a new game a highly anticipated event for fans.

Capcom made this announcement during its Next Summer 2024 stream, confirming that the much-loved series would continue with a new entry.

Capcom revealed that Koshi Nakanishi, a seasoned director with extensive experience in the Resident Evil series, will helm Resident Evil 9. Nakanishi has been involved in several Resident Evil projects, including The Mercenaries 3D, Resident Evil Revelations, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

His familiarity with the franchise is expected to bring a significant contribution to the development of the new game. Nakanishi expressed his enthusiasm about the project and hinted that although he can’t reveal details yet, the new game feels substantial and promising.

In addition to announcing Resident Evil 9, Capcom is also focusing on remastering some of its classic games. During the same stream, they announced the upcoming release of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This remaster will feature updated HD graphics, a new voiceover for the protagonist Frank West, and even fluffier poodles, adding a fresh experience to the beloved game.

Capcom’s stream also included the announcement of a demo for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, a Japanese-inspired strategy action game. This demo will allow players to experience the unique gameplay and setting of this new title. Additionally, Capcom revealed a re-release of Resident Evil: Biohazard for Apple mobile devices and computers, making it more accessible to a broader audience.

Capcom’s announcements highlight their commitment to both continuing the Resident Evil series with new and exciting entries and revitalizing classic games for modern platforms. With a mix of new games and remastered classics, Capcom is catering to long-time fans and new players alike, ensuring that their beloved franchises remain relevant and engaging.
