HWA, originally tied to AMG, has introduced a new project: a modern version of the classic Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II. This marks their debut in making street cars after focusing on building race cars for years. The new HWA Evo isn’t just a restored old car; it’s essentially brand new, designed from scratch with top-notch materials and engineering, reflecting their high standards honed in motorsport.
Priced at around $770,000, the HWA Evo aims to capture the spirit of the original 190E Evo II, a car known for its rarity and success in racing. It’s wider and longer than the original, with a sleek carbon fiber body that improves both looks and strength. They’ve kept only the basic frame of the original 190E, reinforcing it heavily for safety and performance.
Underneath, they’ve upgraded everything: the suspension is new and sporty, the gearbox is in the back for better balance, and the brakes are bigger for more stopping power. It’s got fancy adjustable shock absorbers and smooth hydraulic steering for a comfortable drive with precise handling.
Instead of the old engine, they’ve gone modern with a turbocharged V-6 that’s strong and meets current emission rules. It’s powerful enough for spirited driving and can be tuned for even more speed if you want. The design mixes classic looks with modern aerodynamics and cooling, adding sleek LED lights and a new aerodynamic kit for stability at high speeds.
HWA took a big risk making their own car, but it seems to be paying off with strong early sales. They plan more projects too, maybe reviving other famous Mercedes-Benz models like the old AMG ‘Hammer.’ This shows their commitment to blending old-school charm with new technology in high-performance cars.
