A minor snafu has been identified by Ford Motor Company with a limited number of 2023 and 2024 Escape SUVs. The affected vehicles, built between April 19, 2023, and November 9, 2023, pertain to the mid-cycle refresh of the current Escape generation, which may be its last.
While rumors swirl about the compact SUV’s discontinuation in favor of an electric counterpart in 2025, Ford has remained tight-lipped on the matter. This news comes amidst a rise in demand for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The issue lies with the misalignment of cruise control radar modules in some 209 front-wheel-drive Escapes equipped with factory-installed adaptive cruise control (ACC).
This concern was brought to Ford’s attention in December 2023 after the Louisville Assembly Plant reported an unusually high number of failures at the wheel alignment and headlight aim station.
Investigations revealed that these vehicles were mistakenly calibrated using incorrect cruise control radar calibration boards.
Ford Escape drivers, especially those who rely on adaptive cruise control, take note! A recent safety recall targets a limited number of 2024 Escape vehicles equipped with this technology.
The culprit? A misaligned cruise control module. This malfunction can significantly impact your driving experience by raising the risk of collisions and compromising the effectiveness of crucial safety features like automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and pedestrian detection.
To address this issue, Ford will be notifying affected owners via first-class mail between July 1st and July 5th, 2024, and dealerships nationwide will be equipped to realign the faulty modules free of charge.
