The much-anticipated 2025 Toyota GR Supra is set to hit dealerships this fall boasting a more potent engine and a slightly adjusted price tag.
Stepping aside is the base four-cylinder mill, replaced by a muscular single-turbocharged inline-six that cranks out a thrilling 382 horsepower. This infusion of power comes at a cost, with the starting MSRP rising to $56,250.
But true driving enthusiasts will welcome the standard inclusion of a manual transmission and a free membership to the National Auto Sport Association, adding a track-day experience to the package.
While the manual transmission offers a more engaging driving experience, the automatic transmission boasts better fuel economy. The automatic Mustang achieves an estimated 26 mpg compared to 21 mpg for the manual.
Toyota hasn’t released official fuel economy figures for the 2024 Supra manual transmission. The most fuel-efficient V8 Mustang delivers 18 mpg, powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter engine.
While the base GR Supra might outperform the Mustang on the track, the Mustang GT Fastback offers a significant price advantage starting at $42,460.
The future of these two iconic sports cars remains uncertain. While the Mustang is expected to continue beyond 2024, the Supra might be discontinued in 2026, potentially coinciding with the end of BMW Z4 production.
The arrival of the highly anticipated GRMN Supra is also up in the air, leaving fans to wait and see if it arrives in 2025 or later.
