Ushering in the 2025 model year, Kia America has implemented a strategic refresh for the Kia Seltos. This compact SUV continues to go head-to-head with rivals in a crowded marketplace, and the upgrades aim to bolster its appeal.
While a slight bump in pricing compared to 2024 models might be noticeable, the revisions bring a substantial increase in standard features across all trim levels.
Kia Seltos offers a choice between a front-wheel drive setup with a torsion beam rear suspension and an all-wheel drive variant with a multi-link independent rear end.
MacPherson struts are used in the front suspension for both configurations. All-wheel drive models also benefit from larger brakes.
Engine options include a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine with Atkinson cycle technology and multi-port fuel injection. This base engine delivers 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an intelligent variable transmission.
For those who prefer a more powerful option, a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine is available on X-Line and SX trims. This engine utilizes direct fuel injection and produces 195 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel efficiency varies depending on the chosen powertrain and drivetrain configuration. The 2.0-liter engine achieves 31 mpg with front-wheel drive and 29 mpg with all-wheel drive. The turbocharged engine with all-wheel drive delivers 25 mpg.
Kia Seltos experienced a slight sales increase in the first quarter of 2024 compared to 2023. However, Sportage and Forte remain Kia’s best-selling models, with the Forte being replaced by the K4 sedan and hatchback for the 2025 model year.
