Microsoft has resumed the rollout of the June Windows 11 KB5039302 update after a brief pause prompted by reports of devices entering reboot loops post-installation. The issue primarily affected users employing virtualization software such as CloudPC, DevBox, Azure Virtual Desktop, and VMware.
Following investigations, Microsoft identified that virtual machine tools and nested virtualization features were the main culprits.
Initially withdrawn on Wednesday, the update was withheld from Windows Update and Windows Update for Business to address the reboot loop problem. A recent update from Microsoft’s Message Center confirmed the resumption of the KB5039302 update for devices not impacted by virtualization software.
However, Hyper-V virtual machines on certain processor types may still encounter restrictions when receiving the update.
Users unaffected by virtualization issues can now proceed to install the update via Windows Update as usual. Nevertheless, another bug associated with this update affects the Taskbar display for users on Windows N edition or those who have disabled the ‘Media Features’ component in the Control Panel. Microsoft advises these users to postpone installing the update until fixes are provided in a future release.
Microsoft is actively working on resolving both issues and plans to include the fixes in upcoming updates. For now, users are encouraged to monitor further announcements from Microsoft regarding the stability and availability of the KB5039302 update tailored for Windows 11.
