While Volvo began production of the EX90 SUV this month after a two-year delay, some features won’t be ready by launch.
Known for prioritizing safety, Volvo has taken steps like limiting all new cars’ top speeds since 2020. However, deliveries of the EX90, touted as Volvo’s safest car ever, will miss certain features according to emails sent to customers.
These include conveniences like wireless Apple CarPlay and a light display theme, as well as some driver-assistance features like cross-traffic alert.
While Volvo says a future software update will unlock the full potential of the car’s LiDAR system and add features like curve speed assist, some functionalities will be absent upon initial delivery.
Starting at a hefty $76,695 before extras, the Volvo EX30 offers a punchy driving experience with two electric motor options.
The base Twin Motor boasts 402 horsepower and propels the SUV from zero to sixty in a brisk 5.7 seconds. Craving even more muscle? The range-topping Twin Motor Performance ups the ante to 496 horsepower and shaves a whole second off the 0-60 time.
Both variants come equipped with an 11 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated driving range of 373 miles on a single charge. However, a minor hitch exists a gradual battery drain when parked.
